Hanna Verboom

Hanna Verboom (Bonni)

Hanna Verboom grew up in the heart of Africa, the oldest daughter of Dutch missionaries. Hanna previously played the lead in the Dutch romantic comedy 'Snow Fever', hosted her own national TV program 'Top of the Pops', and was the female lead in the US production 'Deuce Bigalow, European Gigolo'. Her recent projects include the Dutch TV-series 'Boks', 'Shouf Shouf', short film 'Buuv', and feature films 'Battle of the Pareo Rock' and 'Drifter'.

We have only been here for a few weeks and yet it seems like an eternity. Panama feels like home, the set feels like play, and the crew feels like family.

We have been filming all our scenes around the jungle location, Michael and Bonni’s house in the heart of the interior. Here, in the middle of the jungle, we work closely with the locals. It’s fun to kid around while waiting for the next scene. To play football with the guys, or go mingle with the girls who are cooking supper. They are all such great people, and the ‘family’ keeps expanding. The scenes start coming together, and I really feel Christian and I are growing closer acting wise. What a joy to step out of the plane and feel the warm wind tickle your skin. To stand face to face with a bright-smiling Panamanian immigration officer. To inhale the sweet, tropical scents surrounding you.

I love Panama….From the first day on. On my arrival in Panama city, I get to meet up with the makers Helmut Schleppi and Geert Heetebrij, and producer David Bijker. It’s great to hear about their exciting plans for ‘The interior’.

From Panama City, it’s a 2-hour, gorgeous trip to the first location… Portobello’s jungle! The shoot hasn’t even begun, but I am already enjoying myself to the max. My cabana has a hammock overlooking the ocean… It’s all I need to unwind from 24-hour com...
